Day 2: Saturday, October 17, 2026

La Ciotat, Cassis, Green Island | France

Cassis is a picturesque fishing village, a quintessential destination for visitors seeking beauty, relaxation, and a touch of Provençal elegance. It is gracefully set against a large, sparkling harbor, its tranquil waters reflecting the charming houses and the majestic medieval castle that majestically overlooks the scene. The village is renowned for its idyllic setting, where the vibrant colors of the fishing boats contrast with the azure of the sea and the lush greenery of the surrounding hills.

Beyond its visual appeal, Cassis holds a significant place in winemaking history. The region around Cassis has a long and unique viticultural heritage, particularly celebrated for its exquisite white and rosé wines. Visitors can explore local vineyards, indulge in wine-tasting sessions, and discover the unique terroir that contributes to the distinctive character of these regional varietals. The village also serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the breathtaking Calanques, a series of stunning limestone fjords that can be admired by boat or by hiking along scenic trails.

La Ciotat, on the other hand, will charm you with its more rustic and historically resonant character. Its picturesque old fishing port is a lively hub, where the daily rhythms of Provençal life unfold. Beautiful 17th-century houses frame the harbor, their weathered facades whispering tales of centuries past, creating an atmosphere of timeless Mediterranean allure. La Ciotat is often credited as the birthplace of cinema, with the Lumière brothers famously filming their first motion pictures here.

A unique highlight of La Ciotat is the easy accessibility of Île Verte (Green Island). A mere 10-minute hop by "navette" (a small ferry) from the Vieux Port transports visitors to this remote, car-free, tiny island. Île Verte is a fascinating historical gem, known for its formidable fortifications and its military history spanning from the 17th century through World War II. Exploring the island offers a compelling glimpse into its strategic past, with remnants of ancient defenses and stunning panoramic views of the coastline.

Day 3: Sunday, October 18, 2026

Sete, the Languedoc Wine Region, Montpellier | France

Sète, often referred to as the "Venice of Languedoc," is a vibrant port city renowned for its intricate network of canals that wind through the urban landscape. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere of its fishing port, where colorful boats bob gently and the day's catch is brought ashore. The city's maritime heritage is palpable, from the traditional "joutes nautiques" (water jousting) events held in the canals during summer to the bustling central market, overflowing with fresh seafood and local delicacies. Perched majestically above the city is Mont Saint-Clair, offering panoramic views of Sète, the Étang de Thau lagoon, and the glistening Mediterranean Sea. A stroll through Sète's charming streets reveals a unique blend of old-world charm and contemporary artistic expression, with numerous galleries and street art adding to its bohemian allure.

Just a short distance away lies Montpellier, a dynamic and elegant city that effortlessly blends its ancient past with a vibrant, modern spirit. At its heart is the magnificent Place de la Comédie, a grand pedestrian square bustling with cafes, street performers, and the iconic "Three Graces" fountain. History comes alive in the city's medieval quarter, where narrow, winding streets open onto hidden courtyards and impressive architectural gems. Montpellier is also a hub of culture and education, home to one of Europe's oldest medical schools and a thriving student population, contributing to its lively and youthful energy. Visitors can explore world-class museums, relax in beautifully manicured gardens like the Jardin des Plantes, or simply soak in the lively atmosphere of its many squares and terraces.

Beyond these captivating cities, we will offer an exclusive visit to the heart of the Languedoc wine region, an area celebrated for its rich winemaking traditions and picturesque landscapes. Here, you'll discover some of the region's most enchanting châteaux, each with its own story to tell. Among them are the remarkable "Folies Châteaux," a collection of ornamental or whimsical châteaux built during the 18th and 19th centuries. These architectural marvels were initially conceived not for defensive purposes, but as purely decorative and symbolic expressions of wealth and extravagance, serving as grand pleasure houses for the aristocracy. Today, while retaining their historical grandeur and unique charm, many of these magnificent estates have also transformed into outstanding wineries. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore these opulent historical buildings, learn about the winemaking process, and, of course, indulge in tastings of the superb wines produced on their estates, offering a perfect blend of history, architecture, and oenological delight.

Collioure, France

Collioure, a picturesque coastal town nestled on the Vermeille Coast in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of southern France, is renowned for its rich artistic heritage. Its unique light, vibrant colors, and charming scenery have long attracted artists from around the world, making it a significant hub for modern art.

The town's artistic legacy is particularly associated with the Fauvist movement, as artists like Henri Matisse and André Derain spent a pivotal summer there in 1905. Their innovative use of bold, non-naturalistic colors to express emotion revolutionized painting and left an indelible mark on the art world. Today, Collioure continues to inspire creativity, with numerous art galleries, studios, and a dedicated museum celebrating its artistic past and present. Day 5: Tuesday, October 20, 2026

Roses | A Journey into the world of Salvador Dali

In this privileged place, reality and the sublime almost touch. My mystical paradise begins in the plains of the Empordà, is surrounded by the hills of the Albera range, and reaches its fullness in the bay of Cadaqués. This land is my eternal inspiration.
— Salvador Dali

The town of Roses boasts a fascinating history, with Hellenistic quarter remnants dating back to the 4th century BCE. Other notable historical sites include the Citadel (La Ciutadella), a Renaissance fortress encompassing Greek and Roman ruins, and the Castell de la Trinitat. This area, with its plains, the Albera mountain range, and the bay of Cadaqués, is truly a mystical paradise and a source of eternal inspiration.

Our journey also includes a deep dive into the world of Salvador Dalí through the "Dalinian Triangle," a route connecting three iconic sites in the Empordà region.

For those interested in a shorter excursion, we will offer a curated visit to Dalí's house in Port Lligat, Cadaqués, which remains almost entirely as he left it. While there, we'll enjoy an ice cream-fueled walk through the charming cobbled streets of Cadaqués before heading to the famous Maritim Bar for cocktails and tapas.

The other two primary sites we will visit are Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, his wife Gala's house, and The Dalí Theatre-Museum in his hometown of Figueres.

The Dalí Theatre-Museum houses the world's most extensive collection of the artist's work, providing an ideal setting to explore his career from his early creative experiences and iconic surrealist creations to his later works.

At Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, you can delve into the private world of the Gala-Dalí couple within this Gothic castle. Time seems to stand still in this setting, which was designed as a retreat for the artist's muse. After Gala's death, it became her mausoleum and Salvador Dalí's last studio, offering essential insights into the artist's inner life and his relationship with his muse.

Day 6: Wednesday, October 21, 2026

Palamos, Peratallada, Pals | Spain

Today, guests are presented with an enticing choice: indulge in the tranquil charm of Palamos or embark on a captivating exploration of the medieval villages of Peratallada and Pals, each offering a unique glimpse into Catalonia's rich history.

Pals, a living museum of medieval charm: Visiting Pals offers an immersion into a living museum, where echoes of the past resonate through its meticulously preserved architecture and cobblestone streets. Perched atop a hill, the village provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Empordà region, a vista that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. The town's historical center, known as El Pedró, is a labyrinth of narrow, winding streets, stone houses adorned with vibrant flowers, and charming squares that invite leisurely exploration.

The designation of Peratallada as a site of historical-artistic interest by the Spanish government strongly suggests an exceptionally rewarding experience for any visitor. While some might initially perceive its picturesque streets and ancient facades as resembling a meticulously crafted film set, Peratallada is far more profound; its authenticity and pervasive historical essence is undeniably palpable, weaving a narrative that dates back to the Roman period, though its current form largely reflects its medieval development. The town remarkably retains its feudal character, a living museum of a bygone era. This is evidenced by its intricate network of winding, narrow streets, designed not just for aesthetics but also for defense, creating a labyrinthine charm that invites endless discovery.

Tarragona, a city steeped in history and nestled on the northeastern coast of Spain, serves as a captivating destination. This ancient port city, located in the autonomous community of Catalonia, is renowned for its remarkably preserved Roman ruins, which have earned it UNESCO World Heritage status.

The most prominent of these Roman vestiges is the Tarraco Archaeological Ensemble, encompassing a wealth of structures that offer a profound glimpse into life during the Roman Empire. Visitors can explore the magnificent Roman Amphitheatre, where gladiatorial contests and public spectacles once thrilled crowds, with the Mediterranean Sea providing a dramatic backdrop. Nearby, the Roman Circus, one of the best-preserved of its kind, evokes images of exhilarating chariot races. The towering walls and impressive gates of the Roman Walls still encircle a significant portion of the old town, testament to the city's strategic importance. Further exploration reveals the Provincial Forum, the Colonial Forum, and the Necropolis, each contributing to a comprehensive understanding of Tarragona's Roman past.

Beyond its Roman heritage, Tarragona boasts a charming old town, or "Part Alta," characterized by its narrow, winding streets, historic buildings, and vibrant atmosphere. The magnificent Cathedral of Tarragona, a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, dominates the skyline and offers breathtaking views from its bell tower. The city's Mediterranean climate, with its warm summers and mild winters, makes it an attractive year-round destination.

Alternatively, opt for a visit to the UNESCO-listed 12th-century Poblet Monastery, a pristine Cistercian abbey of immense proportions, which includes a Gothic church and tranquil cloisters. Within its crypts lie the Catalan and Aragonese kings, alongside other illustrious nobility.

Valencia, Spain

Valencia, one of Spain’s most ancient cities, established as a Roman colony in 138 B.C., offers an opportunity to join an expert guide for a perambulation through the Old Town. Here, vibrant houses are adorned with elaborate ceramic tiles and intricate iron balconies. A stop will be made for an interior viewing of the UNESCO-listed Lonja de la Seda—the Silk Exchange—a magnificent example of late Valencian Gothic architecture erected between 1482 and 1533. Furthermore, the Mercado Central (Central Market) will be visited, an exemplary showcase of Valencian Art Nouveau, where over 300 stalls present an abundance of local delicacies. The spectacular Gothic Valencia Cathedral, whose architectural styles range from Romanesque to Neoclassical, will also be observed. Within, the Chapel of the Holy Chalice will be visited, which houses a first-century A.D. cup believed to have touched Christ’s lips during the Last Supper.

Alternatively, an exploration of Valencia's rich ceramic history is offered. This tour concentrates on the National Ceramics Museum, a private artisan workshop in Manises, and the modern artistry of Lladró.

The experience will commence with the magnificent Palacio del Marqués de Dos Aguas, home to the National Ceramics Museum, where a curated visit with our scholar will focus on the collection's most impressive and historically significant pieces. These include: the intricate Islamic and medieval lusterware, detailing the Moorish origins of the craft; the opulent rococo carriages and tiled 19th-century kitchen, which highlight the artistry's influence on aristocratic life; and selected works by modern artists, such as Pablo Picasso, that demonstrate the evolution of the craft. The itinerary will then proceed to Manises for an appreciation of the artistry of Lladró.
