Day-to-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Monday, September 20, 2027
Day of Arrival | Lecce
Today is a travel day from your home city to Bari, Italy. For those traveling from the United States, several convenient connections are available through major international gateways, including Frankfurt, Paris, or Rome. For guests who wish to arrive one night early, a 1-night Pre-Journey Stay is available at Il Melograno, a historic, fortified 16th-century masseria set amid ancient olive trees just outside Monopoli.
Upon your arrival in Bari, each guest will be met with a private transfer that will escort you from the airport to the Hotel Patria Palace in Lecce. Known as "The Florence of the South," this historic city will serve as our elegant base for the first three nights of the journey. The Hotel Patria Palace is“an art collector's dream, rather than a traditional hotel.” Overlooking the 2,000-year-old Roman theatre, our boutique hotel offers a panoramic terrace with the most exclusive views of the city, making one feel like the guest of honor in a contemporary aristocratic villa.
Lecce is celebrated for its deep cultural roots, having been shaped by a succession of civilizations over the millennia. Founded during the Roman era as Lupiae, it grew into a prominent hub of commerce and intellectual life, later bolstered by a vibrant Jewish community during the Middle Ages.
The city's architectural legacy reached its zenith in the 17th century with the birth of Leccese Baroque. This distinctive style is characterized by highly detailed carvings in local golden stone, an artistic triumph that remains one of Italy's most captivating sights.
This evening we will have a welcome gathering followed by dinner.
Overnight at Hotel Patria Palace, Lecce.

Day 2: Tuesday, September 21, 2027
Lecce and Otranto
This morning, we depart the elegant Patria Palace for a guided walk through Lecce. Known as the "Florence of the South," the city is renowned for its stunning Baroque architecture, including the grand Cathedral in Piazza del Duomo and the ornate Basilica of Santa Croce. Our exploration reveals noble estates and detailed façades that showcase Lecce's deep artistic heritage.
The morning concludes with an exclusive visit to a private historic residence that offers a unique look into aristocratic life. Afterward, we will enjoy lunch at one of Lecce’s historic restaurants to sample local flavors.
In the early afternoon, we travel to Otranto, a picturesque seaside town on Italy's eastern edge. We will explore the historic center's winding lanes and immerse ourselves in a history shaped by Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Aragonese cultures. Highlights include the Cathedral's 12th-century mosaic floor, the majestic Aragonese Castle, and the ancient sea walls offering panoramic coastal views.
Upon returning to Lecce, the evening is yours to enjoy at leisure, with many refined dining options available.

Day 3: Wednesday, September 22, 2027
Santa Maria di Leuca and the Salento Countryside
Santa Maria di Leuca offers a rare blend of geographic drama and refined history, serving as the symbolic "end of the land" at Italy’s southernmost tip. It is a place of profound stillness where the Adriatic and Ionian seas converge, creating a visible horizon line that has captivated travelers since antiquity.
The town’s character is defined by its architectural elegance and spiritual significance. The promenade is graced by eclectic 19th-century villas, while the Basilica de Finibus Terrae and the monumental lighthouse stand as sentinels over the Mediterranean. Beyond the land, the coastline is carved into a series of majestic sea caves and rugged cliffs, offering some of the most pristine waters in the Salento region. It remains a destination for those who appreciate a slower, more sophisticated pace of life.
The tradition of St. Peter is fundamental to the identity of Santa Maria di Leuca, as the town is widely regarded as the site where the Apostle first set foot on Italian soil. A strong local belief suggests that St. Peter established the sanctuary as a "door to Heaven." It is traditionally said that every soul must visit this sanctuary at least once—either in life or in spirit—to gain entry into Paradise.
Our experience begins with an exploration of the town, followed by a private boat excursion to experience the spectacular coastline with renowned marine caves, dramatic cliffs, and translucent waters that distinguish this region as one of southern Italy's most breathtaking landscapes.
Following the excursion, we will enjoy a lunch that perfectly captures the essence of Santa Maria di Leuca's culinary heritage—a sophisticated fusion of Adriatic and Ionian influences harmonized with the enduring, rustic traditions of the Salento countryside.
To conclude our day, we immerse ourselves in the authentic spirit of Salento with a refined "farm-to-table" dining experience. This atmospheric evening remains deeply tied to its rustic origins, offering a sensory masterpiece as we dine beneath a pergola intertwined with fragrant jasmine and lush grapevines. The gentle evening breeze of the Puglian countryside provides a cooling backdrop to this quintessential local encounter.

Day 4: Thursday, September 23, 2027
Val d’Itria, Alberobello, Matera
Today, we travel between the stone spires of the valley and the cave-carved cliffs of Matera. En route, we visit a historic Masseria—a fortified rural estate that stands as a noble guardian of the Puglian landscape. Here, time slows to the rhythm of the seasons.
We step behind ancient walls to observe the agrarian customs that have shaped this land for centuries, before gathering for a traditional luncheon that is a multi-course engagement, of Cucina Povera, the “peasant cooking” that transformed humble ingredients into a world-class culinary art. Every dish tells a story of the soil, featuring sun-ripened produce cultivated on the estate or sourced from adjacent farms.
The day then continues into the heart of Alberobello, a UNESCO-protected dreamscape of ivory stone and high-pointed silhouettes. Here, the legendary trulli rise from the earth like something plucked from a folktale—whimsical, whitewashed dwellings capped with conical stone scales, born in the 17th century from a stroke of tax-evading genius. As we wander the labyrinthine paths of Rione Monti and the soulful alleys of Aia Piccola, we peel back layers of architectural myth in a village that feels forever suspended in time.
As the sun shifts, we travel toward the rugged horizon of Basilicata to reach Matera, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth. We settle into the Vetera Matera, a masterclass in regenerative grace that breathes new life into the city’s ancestral hypogeal sanctuaries. Once-shadowed rock-hewn dwellings have been meticulously sculpted into ethereal suites, bridging the prehistoric echoes of the Paleolithic era with the pinnacle of five-star luxury. From your terrace overlooking the bone-colored Sassi, we are not merely visiting history; we are living within the very bedrock of civilization.
This evening, dinner will be served at the Artema restaurant, located in a subterranean chamber hewn from the rock, where ancient geological features complement modern design.

Day 5: Friday, September 24, 2027
Discovering Matera and Bari
Following breakfast, our private guide will meet us to begin our exploration through Matera, an architectural miracle and one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in human history. Our guided walking tour focuses on the legendary Sassi districts—Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso—where the city’s soul is etched directly into the calcarenite rock. As we navigate a labyrinth of stone stairways and narrow alleys, you will witness how centuries of civilization layered homes, workshops, and Byzantine rock-hewn churches upon one another in a seamless tapestry of human ingenuity.
The experience offers an immersive look at the Sassi’s evolution from prehistoric cave dwellings to the pinnacle of UNESCO-protected cultural heritage. We will pause to explore a traditional “casa grotta,” a meticulously preserved cave home that provides a poignant window into the domestic life of Matera’s ancestors. Walking these ancient paths, you will feel the palpable transition of time, from the rugged Paleolithic roots to the refined, revitalized galleries and residences that define the city today.
At the conclusion of our morning exploration, a private transfer will escort us to Bari. Upon arrival, we gather at a local restaurant to experience the authentic, sun-drenched flavors of Apulian cuisine, where the simplicity of local ingredients is elevated to a culinary art form.
The afternoon is dedicated to Bari Vecchia, the city's historic heart. This guided tour wanders through a spirited maze of white-stoned alleys where local traditions remain vibrantly alive. We will visit the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, a cornerstone of Christian pilgrimage, and the Cathedral of San Sabino, admiring the elegant fusion of Romanesque architecture and Mediterranean light. Our walk concludes along the scenic seafront promenade, offering refreshing vistas of the Adriatic.
To conclude our exploration of Matera, we will gather for a distinctive dining experience within the evocative setting of a local cave restaurant. The soft illumination of the ancient stone interiors creates an intimate atmosphere, perfectly complementing the historic charm of the city’s rock-hewn dwellings. This memorable dinner offers a final opportunity to immerse ourselves in the authentic spirit and character of Matera, reflecting the timeless legacy of this remarkable destination.

Day 6: Saturday, September 25, 2027
Matera, Amalfi Coast, and the Sacred Sanctuary
Our home for the next three nights is the luxurious Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel, a breathtaking 13th-century Capuchin monastery transformed into a luxury hotel. It is perched 80 meters above the sea on a dramatic cliffside, offering a high level of seclusion and monastic serenity despite being just a 10-minute walk from the center of Amalfi. The hotel's soul lies in preserving its ancient history, with a stunning Arab-Norman cloister, a consecrated Baroque chapel, and accommodation that retains historic elements such as tiled flooring, vaulted ceilings, and lime-washed walls. Guests can enjoy amenities such as an award-winning Anantara Spa, a panoramic gym, a swimming pool, and a private beach. Days can begin with espresso on the cliffside terrace before indulging in exquisite Italian cuisine by Chef Claudio Lanuto at Dei Cappuccini Restaurant.
Upon arrival, we gather for a welcoming luncheon beneath a shaded pergola at La Locanda della Canonica, offering a breathtaking 180-degree panorama of the azure sea. This afternoon, we are granted the rare privilege of the Sacred Sanctuary Tour, a deeply intimate encounter with the soul of Amalfi. On this private, meditative journey, we wander through the 13th-century monastery where the air remains still and fragrant with lemon blossoms—a historical secret shared only with a few. We will trace the sun-drenched arches of the cloister and step into the St. Francis Chapel, a space so profound it feels like a voyage back in time. The pinnacle of the experience is the "Monk’s Walk," a flower-draped path suspended high above the Mediterranean where friars once meditated in absolute silence. Accompanied by Friar Marcus, we do not merely observe the view; we inhabit the sacred "Peace and All Good" spirit that has defined these ancient walls for centuries.
Tonight we will dine at Dining at Dei Cappuccini, which feels like a secret, candlelit feast within the monastery’s ancient walls. Perched on a terrace floating high above the harbor, the air carries the scent of lemon groves and the Mediterranean sea. Here, Executive Chef Claudio Lanuto crafts every dish using fresh ingredients pulled directly from the convent’s own gardens, just steps from your table.

Day 7: Sunday, September 26, 2027
Villa Paradiso di Pansa and Afternoon Free
This morning, we leave the touristic hustle and bustle of Amalfi behind and step into the sun-dappled groves of Villa Paradiso, where the Pansa family invites you into their private sanctuary. This isn’t just a visit; it’s a personal journey led by the owners themselves, who open the gates to this iconic estate to share the "Amalfi Gold" that has fueled their legendary pastry shop for generations. We will wander through the hidden Valley of the Mills, walking beneath traditional pergolas heavy with the scent of citrus, before settling onto a quiet terrace for a soulful Limoncello tasting. We’ll sip small-batch spirits made from the very trees surrounding us—paired with hand-candied citrus and the family’s own stories welcoming us into the living heart of Amalfi tradition.
After our curated visit to the Villa, we will finish our morning with a walk to the town square, which feels like an open-air theater. Known in the Middle Ages as Platea Nova, the square was built over a covered riverbed and has served as a center for commerce and pilgrimage since the 13th century. Our morning concludes with a visit to the Cathedral (Duomo): The architectural masterpiece of the square, featuring a striking Arab-Norman facade adorned with gold mosaics that shimmer in the sunlight.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening is yours to enjoy at your own pace. We suggest a visit to the Anantara’s private beach at Duoglio.
Once there, immerse yourself in the famously clear, deep turquoise waters. Spending an hour swimming in the cool, refreshing Mediterranean is the perfect way to embrace the region's “slow life.”
With the rest of the day stretching before you, you might also choose to wander through the local area, balancing the rejuvenating salt air with a touch of coastal exploration.

As we cruise, we will have time to meander through the picturesque seaside hamlets of Praiano and Positano and encounter geological wonders such as the Furore Fjord. Throughout the journey, there will be ample time to unwind on deck, swim in secluded turquoise waters, and immerse ourselves in the coastal beauty from this exclusive perspective.
